Woven in Varanasi on slow, traditional looms, each saree begins with raw mulberry silk threads that are twisted into katan yarn — a process that gives the fabric its legendary strength, polished shine and luxurious body.
With every stroke of the shuttle, zari motifs rise from the silk like poetry, forming jungla vines, buta florals, lattice jaal and the grand pallu — patterns that have ruled queens’ trousseaus for centuries.
